David Yardley is a composer, countertenor and music director. He studied at the University of Sydney and the University of Cambridge, performing with a number of highly regarded ensembles, including the renowned Choir of Jesus College Cambridge, the Cambridge Medieval Music Group and the Choir of St James’ Church King Street. He currently performs as a soloist in Sydney and Canberra, and sings with Canberra-based group The Pocket Score Company. He directs Canberra-based youth choir Kompactus.
David’s compositions have been performed in the US, UK and Australia. He has recently released a CD of his musical settings of medieval English lyrics, whose original music has been lost to history. Performed by professional singers from Sydney and Canberra, the CD is titled ‘New Carols and Songs for Chaucer’s Pilgrims’, and has featured on the ABC 7.30 Report and in the Canberra Times.
